A copy Military Cross, a 1914/15 Star named to 6515 C S Maj J Lunn. Worc:R. British War & VIctory Medals named to 2/Lt J Lunn.
John Lunn was commissioned into the 4th Battalion of the Worcester Regt, from the ranks. He had served in 2b Theatre of War (Balkans) from April 1915. He is mentioned several times in the Worcester Regiment History of the Gt War.
It was whilst he was serving as a 2/Lieutenant acting Staff Captain, that he was awarded the Military Cross for his good work for 3 days, during the Battle of Cambrai

'His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve the following award to the under-mentioned, in recognition of their gallantry and devotion to duty in the field.'
Awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as adjutant to his battalion. At a critical moment he collected a party of men who had lost their officers and were much disheartened, leading them forward through intense Machine-gun fire he re-established the line at a very important position.
His medal address in August 1920 was given as John Lunn MC, Hildene, Tower Rd, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield.
Also an unnamed group to his son by provenance, 1939/45 , Africa with bar 8th Army & Italy Stars, Defence & War Medals. The group bar mounted for wear.
