Another family album, West Country content etc. Finally another on HMS Ramilles spring cruise, including taking on refugees from Spain. Spithead 1937 including the Pocket Battleship Graf Spee with HMSe
Revenge. Again the Battleships summer cruise, visit to Molde Norway 1937, SS Queen Mary, Dunkerque , Iron Duke etc. SS Queen Mary sunk the cruiser Curacoa in a collision in the Atlantic. Loaded with troops she sailed on after cutting the smaller ship in two, whilst taking anti U Boat action.

Distinguished Service Medal GV1, engraved to C.E.R.A . R L Jerrard. C/M 38366 . Naval General service Medal bar Palestine 1936-39, named to M. 38366 R.L.Jerrard. E.R.A.2.R.N... 1939/45 Star, Ribbon only for the Atlantic Star. Pacific Star with bar Burma. War Medal. New Zealand 1939-45 Service Medal. LSGC GV1 named to M.38366 R.L.Jerrard. E.R.A.2. H.M.S. Achilles. Box of issue addressed to the recipient at Narrow Neck.Devonport N.I. Auckland. New Zealand.
Robert Leslie Jerrard Chief Engine Room Artificer was awarded the DSM in the London Gazette of 11th June 1946. Having served throughout the war in HMS Achilles, including the Battle of The River Plate, his citation reads. 'For distinguished service during the War in the Far East while serving in H.M.N.Z.S 'Achilles'. And, more especially for his persistent and cheerful leadership as senior Chief Engine Room Artificer during which time he built up in his department a spirit of teamwork and cheerful readiness to tackle and master a succession of difficult jobs. His medal entitlement ship shows (5) awards, semmingly to confirm his Atlantic star. A photostat copy shows his 'Achilles' welcome card, also a photocopy of his 1939 dated Wartime Prayer to Fay (wife) serving on HMS Achilles. The son of R W Jerrard CPO, he followed in his fathers footsteps, serving in the Royal Navy. The Battle of the River Plate, Guadalcanal, Okinawa among her Battle Honours, HMS Achilles was sold to the Indian Navy in 1948.
