LATHAM (c.1900-1987) "STEADY AIM", WINNER OF THE OAKS, 1946 Signed and dated 1946, oil on canvas 61.5 x 87.5cm. £1000-1200 Relined; otherwise in good condition Steady Aim, born in 1937, by Felstead out of Quick Arrow, was bred and owned by Sir Frank Butt. At odds of 7/1 she won the Oaks by three lengths from Iona in Harry Wragg's capable hands. She was injured before the St. Leger and was never to race again, but she bred five noble winners.
